Genetic Testing for the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Gene

What You Should Know – Is Testing Right for You?

Sound Women's Care is pleased to offer testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

This is not a test for cancer: it is a test that can tell you if a higher risk for breast and ovarian cancer runs in your family.

Knowing your risk can help you and your doctor make better, more informed decisions about your health, before cancer has a chance to develop. You should consider genetic testing for the breast and ovarian cancer gene if you have a personal or family history of any of the following:

Breast cancer:

  • Before age 50
  • In two or more relatives
  • In a male relative
  • In both breasts or twice in the same breast
  • In individuals of Ashkenazi Jewish descent

Ovarian cancer at any age
